Effective July 1, 2025, nearly all* healthcare practitioners applying for initial licensure or renewing their license must complete a background screening in order to stay compliant with state law.

Beginning July 1, 2025:
✅ Background screenings will be required for all* licensed healthcare providers during initial licensure AND license renewal.
✅ Delaying your screening can result in serious consequences, including licensing delays or even expiration.

📝 Who Is Affected?
The new law applies to most health care practitioners regulated by the Florida Department of Health’s Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA).
Exemptions:
- Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs)
- Paramedics
- Pharmacy Interns
- Registered Pharmacy Technicians
- Radiologic Technicians
(*Only exempt unless applying through the military active-duty spouse pathway.)
