Florida ORI Numbers by Agency

Find commonly used Florida Originating Agency Identifier (ORI) numbers for health care, child care, education, professional licensing, financial services and other Level 2 background screening purposes.

What is an ORI number?
It tells FDLE where your fingerprint results should go.

An ORI is tied to the agency and screening purpose. Using the wrong ORI can send your results to the wrong agency or delay your application.

Important: verify your ORI before fingerprinting.
This page is a reference guide, not a substitute for instructions from your employer, licensing board or requesting agency. ORI numbers can be program-specific, and some employers, school districts, courts and organizations use unique ORIs or OCA numbers. If your agency gave you a LiveScan Request Form, use the ORI shown on that form.

Not every ORI is on a statewide list

Some Florida ORIs are employer-, court- or program-specific.

Florida has many additional ORIs for local courts, school districts, law enforcement agencies, guardianship programs, private organizations and VECHS participants. Those codes should come directly from the requesting organization.

Courts & Name Changes

County and judicial circuit ORIs can differ. Get the exact code from the Clerk of Court handling your case.

School District Employment

District employees, contractors and volunteers may use district- or purpose-specific codes.

VECHS Organizations

Qualified entities receive their own ORI after FDLE approval. Use the ORI given by the participating organization.

Employer-Supplied Codes

If your employer gives you a screening form or ORI, that instruction takes priority over a general reference list.

Before your appointment

Bring the right information the first time.

A correct ORI is one of the most important pieces of information in a Florida LiveScan submission.

Correct ORI number or LiveScan Request Form
Government-issued photo identification
OCA or Screening ID when your agency requires one
Any employer or licensing-board instructions
Ask for your Transaction Control Number (TCN) after submission

Frequently Asked Questions

Florida ORI Number FAQ

What does ORI stand for?
ORI stands for Originating Agency Identifier. It identifies the agency or authorized entity associated with the fingerprint-based criminal history request.
Why does the correct ORI number matter?
The ORI helps route screening results to the authorized recipient. A wrong ORI can cause results to go to the wrong agency or prevent the licensing board or employer from receiving them.
Can Florida Training Academy choose my ORI for me?
We can help you locate publicly available agency information, but the applicant is responsible for confirming the correct ORI with the employer, licensing board or requesting agency before the fingerprints are submitted.
What is the difference between an ORI and an OCA?
The ORI identifies the authorized agency or screening purpose. An OCA can identify the specific provider, employer, facility or case connected to that screening. Some programs require both.
How do I know if my ORI number has changed?
Check your current application, LiveScan Request Form, employer instructions or licensing-board website. Florida agencies can update screening workflows and codes, so current agency instructions should always be followed.
Where can I verify whether an ORI is valid?
FDLE provides an Applicant ORI Fee Search for validating a complete ORI and checking the associated state fees. FDLE advises applicants to obtain the ORI from the requesting agency or entity.
